The
Psychology of Trading
(June 16, 1999)
"I keep seeing a referance to the psyc of trading, and how to succeed in
trading you must adhere to this. Please give me info about this aspect of comm.
trading. Thank you, D. Z."

Courtney Smith: To me, nothing is more important than the psychology of
trading. I firmly believe that the intellectual skills necessary for trading
are trivial. However, the emotional and psychological skills are extremely difficult.
I think that the two best source for addressing the psychology of trading are
"The Disciplined Trader" by Mark Douglas (available through the CTCR
Bookstore) and our own issue of CTCR called "Why
You Lose and What You Can Do About It". I have also heard that the seminars
by Van Tharp are also useful though I have not personally taken them. Start with
the CTCR issue and Douglas' book. They address the key issues are very inexpensive.

"I
recently received a brochure on this book and found it interesting. Have you done
a review on it yet, and if so, how accurate is it? It sounds very reasonable as
it alludes to compatibility with W.D. Gann's methodology on futures trading."
